Country of residence
This information allows us to offer you more accurate rates.
In most countries, the minimum age required to hire a vehicle is 25.
Each driver must present a full, valid and original national driver's license held for minimum of 2 years. If your license is not in a language used in your destination country, an International Driver's Permit to accompany your national driver's license is highly recommended. Some rental companies and government agencies require that you present an IDP. It is the renter's responsibility to present both their IDP and Driver's License when picking up the vehicle. For more information, please reach out to the Rental Company.
Each driver must present a valid and original photo ID or passport.
The renter must present a personal credit card, valid in the country of pick-up with enough funds to put a hold for a security deposit. Third-party credit cards will not be accepted. The car rental company is solely responsible for approving the provided credit card. Online prepayment does not exempt the renter from providing a valid international credit card during vehicle pick-up. The rental company will place a hold in the amount of the security deposit and, when applicable, any additional local fees not covered in the prepaid voucher on the card provided at the rental location.
You must present a printout of the Booking Confirmation Voucher at the rental location. This document officially confirms all agreed upon services, payment conditions, rates, discounts, as well as vehicle availability within the group selected.
Car rental companies reserve the right to refuse service to underage or unlicensed drivers, those with poor credit history or individuals otherwise considered liabilities by the rental company.
Take a Trip Up North to Anchorage
When you travel to Anchorage, you'll find yourself in a different world. There are regular sightings of bald eagles, moose and bears even within city limits. Having a car rental gives you flexibility in terms of when and where you travel. Traffic is minimal, and having a car means you'll be able to explore the more remote attractions as well as city sights.
See the Animals
There's a good chance you'll see something wild from the road, but if you want a better look, head over to the Alaska Zoo. It's about 10 miles away from downtown Anchorage, and it's home to native and exotic animals. You can even book a special encounter where you get to go behind the scenes.
Further south is the Alaska Wildlife Conversation Center. At this 200-acre reserve, orphaned and injured animals are cared for. You can see animals like bison, bears, deer, reindeer, foxes and caribou. It's just under an hour's drive from town with your car rental.
Climb up the Mountains
From land, the mountains of Alaska are awe-inspiring. When you're up in the mountains, you get an expansive view of the terrain. While you could hike at places like Byron Glacier Trail or Thunderbird Falls, you can also take a chairlift or tram at the Alyeska Resort. The tram runs year-round and climbs 2,300 feet in seven minutes. The ski season at Alyeska generally lasts from November to April.
The resort is about 40 miles from the city and 15 miles from the wildlife conservation center. It has its own dining and lodging options.
